Not asking for help.
If you don’t ask for help in the gym, you’re only hindering your own progress.
This is a really silly mistake. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
If you’re not sure on your form, ask someone to check it. If you need a spot, ASK FOR IT.
There’s nothing stupider than tearing your rotator cuff whilst bench pressing because you were too shy to ask for a spot.
If you’re new to lifting, you should know that becoming a lifter is like being part of this global club. We’ve all gone through the same journey. We’ve all been noobs at the gym.
We’ve all felt awkward and scared to ask for a spot. From the biggest muscle head, to the skinny guy picking up his first dumbbell, we’re all at the gym for the same reason: to improve.
Therefore, know that everyone will want to see you improve. They WILL want to help. Believe me.
Asking for a spot, asking someone to check your form is COMPLETELY ACCEPTABLE.
Just make sure you ask someone when they’re resting. Don’t ask them whilst they’re mid-set!
I guarantee you they will say YES. They’ll be flattered you asked them.
Don’t be a stranger. Go ask someone who is further along in their fitness journey.
Learn from them. You’ll make friends. You’ll progress and improve faster.
That’s all from me.
