Greetings Well-Built Gentleman,
Today I want to share another incredibly powerful I’ve learnt recently. That is to be successful you need to pick one thing and go 100% at it.
Trying to be successful at multiple things simultaneously is a COMPLETE waste of time. This doesn’t mean you can’t be successful at different things at different points in your life. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the greatest bodybuilder of all time, Hollywood legend and former politician. You just can’t do it all at the same time.
This is obviously because we have limited time and resources. But on a deeper level, to be truly successful at anything, it requires full devotion of ourselves to that discipline.
People don’t realise that it has been proven that attention, motivation and willpower are limited resources. Seriously. We can only give a shit about something for only so long in the day, before we completely lose our willpower.
With this in mind, how on earth do you expect to give the time and focused, valuable attention required to excel to more than one discipline?
Pick one thing. The more specific, the better. Then become a master at that. No one was ever remembered for being mediocre at a lot of things.
If you’re an artist. Pick one medium, then become a master at that.
If you’re a chef, pick one cuisine and then master that.
Pick something you care about. Something that matters to you. Then master it.
Picking one thing to excel at cancels out all the bullshit. You become far more productive, because you goal becomes singular.
Once you’ve picked your one thing. I want you to constantly ask yourself, ‘will this help me further and improve my one thing?’ If the answer is no, then don’t bother with it.
If you’re interested in becoming more productive and finding your one thing to succeed at, I HIGHLY recommend “The ONE thing” by Gary Keller.
That’s all from me today,
